We sat down with Jessica Francis, our Clinical Operations Manager, in early March 2021 for a few minutes to discover what motivates her about her role at LiveBig.
Here’s what Jessica has had to say:
What’s your academic / career background?
I’ve been an Occupational Therapist for over 10 years and have worked across many facets of the private sector in that time. I’ve worked across community aged care, occupational rehabilitation, inpatient rehabilitation, disability employment and disability/ NDIS. The majority of my career has been spent in management, leading small and large teams to deliver quality and customer service focussed services to clients. I’ve been fortunate enough to have experience in two start up environments, where I was able to combine my passion for people management and innovation to create thriving allied health businesses.
Academically, I have a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy). I’ve also completed a number of leadership and management courses and am currently completing a postgraduate research degree (Master of Science Research) looking at the potential for virtual reality to be used as a tool that enables people with disability to increase their work abilities.
Why did you join LiveBig?
I joined LiveBig to further assist people with disability to achieve their goals. LiveBig has a wonderful team of people with aligned values and so much potential to influence the sector in such a positive way. I love that the Arriba Group is invested in and excited about innovation, and I have always wanted to drive innovation in service delivery within the NDIS allied health sector. I will be able to do this with the team at LiveBig.
Why and how are you passionate about NDIS participants?
I am passionate about fairness, and as an Occupational Therapist, I am deeply driven by enabling people to achieve their goals. The NDIS is a world-leading scheme that is well positioned to enable people with disability to do what they need to, want to and have to do; and to empower people to have choice and control over their lives.
Any interesting hobbies?
I love all things sport and fitness; in my younger years I played and coached competitive football (soccer) and in retirement I’m into anything that keeps me moving and connected with a team. Recently I have taken up painting, although I am certainly no Picasso!
Thanks for your time, Jessica – we look forward to many innovative solutions ahead for our clients!
