This week we had the pleasure of interviewing one of our Registered Psychologists, Mitra Stevenson, to find out what her day-to-day work life looks like and why she chose to work in the industry. With over 30 years of experience, Mitra’s journey in psychology has been guided by her passion for helping others navigate life’s challenges and achieve personal growth.

Mitra’s decision to work in this industry was driven by her desire to make a difference in the lives of individuals facing mental health issues. She explained, “witnessing the impact of mental health issues firsthand inspired me to pursue a career where I could make a meaningful difference. Guiding individuals toward greater self-awareness and resilience brings me immense fulfilment, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their well-being every day.”

In her role as a Registered Psychologist, Mitra supports individuals through their struggles and empowers them to overcome obstacles. Each day brings new opportunities to form connections with her clients as they work together towards their goals.

Mitra’s average day involves a range of tasks such as conducting therapy sessions, assessing clients’ needs, collaborating with other professionals, and managing administrative duties. Despite her professional commitments, Mitra prioritises parenting and ensures her child’s needs are integrated into her schedule.

Throughout her career, Mitra has made a positive impact on the lives of many individuals she has worked with. She expressed, “with over 30 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing countless transformations in the lives of my clients. When I work with a client facing chronic and complex challenges. In our sessions, I emphasise the importance of allowing me to walk alongside them on their life journey. When clients grant me that trust, I feel deeply grateful.”
