Tell us about your work at LiveBig
I am a Behaviour Support Practitioner creating individualised strategies and plans that build the capacity of participants who are engaging in challenging behaviours to improve their quality of life as well as social and community inclusion.
I also like to discover how people with challenging behaviours communicate with us and if they are happy and content using these signs to design a support plan that is functional and productive. Using person-centred practices, I like to build teams that wrap around the client to create consistency, excellent communication, and shared goals across the entire multidisciplinary team.
What is your experience as a Behaviour Support Practitioner?
I have a vast range of experience across many settings including corporate, clinical, sporting, individual support, and working within multidisciplinary teams. Through this experience, I have been fortunate enough to work with children and adults of all ages, some in groups of all sizes and individuals. As a qualified sporting coach plus a trainer and assessor, teaching and skill building is very important to me and a big part of how I implement, monitor and assess my behaviour plans to ensure my client receives the best quality of service as possible.
I have 28 years of experience supporting people with psychosocial disability to engage in activities of daily living, in-home, community, and clinical settings. I have a strong focus on the individual needs of clients using recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approaches. My main interest is working with people with mental health conditions and using my OT skills to support participants from child to adult.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about creating pathways to assist people in living their best life possible through the considered application of flexible intervention techniques. Methodologically break down clients’ concerns into nano-blocks of thoughts, feelings, and actions and systematically shapes these nano-blocks towards the desired outcome.
about client-centered care that supports individual goals to engage in meaningful activities of everyday life. I love connecting with clients and hearing their stories and using a holistic approach to care that improves their quality of life.
Thank you Lisa for taking the time to share a little bit about your work and what motivates you.
