What is psychology?

Psychology is an allied health service that supports mental health, emotional wellbeing, behaviour and daily functioning.

Under the NDIS, psychology can help people build skills to manage emotions, develop positive coping strategies, improve relationships, increase participation and work towards personal goals.

Is psychology covered under the NDIS?

Yes. Psychology is funded under the NDIS when it supports your disability-related goals, emotional wellbeing, daily functioning, relationships or participation. We can also provide psychology services privately or through Medicare, depending on what suits your situation.

Do I need a referral?

No, you don’t need a formal referral to access psychology through LiveBig. You can contact us directly or be referred by a support coordinator, plan manager, family member or other provider.

Where can psychology sessions happen?

Psychology sessions can happen at home, school, in the community or via telehealth, wherever support is most appropriate and comfortable.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are typically 45–60 minutes, depending on your needs, goals and plan.
