At LiveBig, our practitioners are passionate about making a real difference in the lives of the people they support. Rachel, our Speech Pathology Team Leader based in Sydney, is no exception.
Rachel’s journey into the disability support sector was driven by a simple but powerful motivation – a love of helping people, and a fascination with psychology and anatomy. For her, speech pathology is the perfect blend of science and compassion, and every day brings new opportunities to make a meaningful impact.
No two days are ever quite the same for Rachel. Her mornings often begin with a drive out to visit clients, where she works closely with individuals and families to support their communication needs. Later, she returns home to conduct telehealth appointments, ensuring her expertise reaches those who need it most, no matter where they are. Alongside her client work, Rachel dedicates time to writing reports and, just as importantly, supporting her team – making sure everyone feels empowered and equipped to deliver the best possible care.
One of Rachel’s most memorable moments came when she helped a non-verbal child use picture communication for the very first time. From that breakthrough, the child began speaking her first words with communicative intent, and her progress skyrocketed. “The feeling of seeing a child finally be able to communicate is indescribable,” Rachel reflects. It’s moments like these that remind her why she chose this path.
Outside of work, Rachel has a fun side too – she can hula hoop! It’s a quirky skill that brings a bit of joy to her busy schedule.
Rachel’s story is just one of many at LiveBig, where every practitioner brings their own unique passion and expertise to the team. If you’re interested in a career at LiveBig or would like to find out more about our team, we’d love to hear from you.
