The start of a New Year is traditionally a time when people make resolutions about improving their lives, and what they want to achieve in the coming 12 months.
And for those on an NDIS plan, the New Year is an opportunity to re-evaluate your needs and goals for 2022.
At LiveBig, we are not only a service provider but also a partner which can support you to identify and achieve your goals through our allied health services.
Why are goals important?
Goals are important for you, and for those who are supporting you, so everyone understands what it is you want to achieve.
The NDIS website explains that goals are your personal desires about what you’d like to do. While your NDIS funding may not directly fund your goals, it could certainly fund the supports and services you require to overcome any barriers in the way of your goals.
The NDIS planning booklet can support you to set out your goals.
From time to time, you may need to evaluate and assess your goals – and what it is that can support you achieve them. New Year is the perfect opportunity.
What goals could you set for 2022?
Goals can be short term (12 months to 2 years), medium term (2 to 3 years) and long term (3 years or more).
Your goals might be to:
- Find and keep a job
- Live more independently
- Be social and do more recreation
- Learn to drive
- Learn something new
Whatever your goals, at LiveBig we support you break them down into smaller milestones and determine what supports and services you need to achieve them.
